My love for candy!Oh! so very sweet!
Unlike sour treats
They make me feel so pleased!
No pucker, nor swollen cheeks!
If you asked for a favorite
I couldn't decide!
From gummy bears
and gummy sharks
To chocolate chips
And chocolate bars
And holiday candy is also neat
For even in Halloween,
Candy can be so spooky
To be changed in two months,
To a cheerful Christmas cookie!
But, not only do they bring you to a smile
Some will clean you breath!
For the stressful interview
To your all so romantic first date!
Candy is magical
From the sensation it brings
To the art it inspires
It's just so hard to pick where to start!
But, I guess I'll start
With this cherry lollipop!
Mature Content
LeftoversOnce you were the meat upon my table
In a time of plenty
The wine sparkled in my glass
Refilled to a thousand toasts
A feast to last a lifetime, I thought.
Now the bitter lees confront me
In my discontented famine
The stale crumbs constant reminders
Swept in the corners of my life and dreams
The remnants of my former joy
That haunt the spaces in between
To trip me in the darkness
Of my daily blind routine.
MidsummerThe oaken wood is leafed in green
Beneath the swelling midyear sun
Come dance with spirits half-unseen
Beneath the trees when day is done
The summer days are waxing long
The barley golden in the fields
The meadowlark descants his song
And Earth as to a lover yields
Come bird, come bee, come fine young beast
And fill the wood with life anew
Come Lord and Lady to the feast
We raise the honeyed cup to you!
Bountiful the summer land
And Earth’s fecundity we bless
The Lady has an open hand
Magnanimous in her largess
The fruit is heavy on the vine
And laden branches ripening
Come break the bread and spill the wine
For summer is upon the wing!

“Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together."

"Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing."
— Theodore Roosevelt

Turning over autumn leaves, new and old
Hello, dearlings!
copper9lives (https://www.deviantart.com/copper9lives), here, with a VERY belated update...
:community: GROUP NEWS! We need admins! If you're active and dedicated, and can commit to contributing a few hours a week, please the group!
A gentle reminder: folks, please keep submissions friendly for our much younger members... potentially offensive (gory, sexual or expletive-heavy) or ideologically sensitive material MUST be labeled "mature" and be carefully considered. If you need an opinion as to whether or not the work is suitable for the group, please one of the admins — thanks!
We now have a "Member promotions and news" folder in the Gallery —
NaNoWriMo Showcase!
Woahhhh.
So it's now December. Which mean a lot of us are entering finals, and November and NaNoWriMo just ended. I wanted to showcase a, uh, couple of members that participated in NaNoWriMo.
With 50,069 words, there is....

TwilightPoetess!!!
This is from her book Oleander:
A small scrap of paper flutters weightlessly above the box. It hovers just out of reach, taunting her. Ripping at it with her fingers, she levers herself on top of the package and stretches to tiptoes. She’s barely pushed herself onto her heel

Reminder: NaNoWriMo Showcase!
NaNoWriMo has recently ended! And we would like to feature our members that participated. If you would like to be part of the showcase all you need to do is message me your word count, and a small excerpt if you wish. (Your book's title would be awesome too!) That's it!
There is no minimum word count. If you hit 50,000 words, CONGRATS! If you didn't, that's okay. You still wrote something and that is something to be proud of. I never got past 30,000 words.
I will ask that any excerpt you send isn't mature content. As for the format, it can either be a link, a dA piece, or something you copy and paste into the message. For the latter, though

Hey Catherine, I'm super duper sorry about not being able to perform by admin duties as of late. Thanks so much for keeping up with everything, I will definitely try my best to be back by Friday evening and weigh in on the Halloween contest. Much love to you!
